Clothing activities

We started out our clothing study with some fun activities!!
We measured and compared the length of our shoes.

We used string and straws to string necklaces. This is also a great fine motor activity which builds muscles in little hands. Building strong fine motor skills allows children to manipulate scissors and writing utensils easier.

We created unique shirts with patterns and buttons.

Fancy shirts!!

We laced beads.

We played clothing match games. We counted how many clothing items on a card and then used the clothes pin to identify the correct numeral.

December - clothing

During the month of December we will be learning all about different types of clothing. We will sort clothes, describe different textures and designs, and learn why we have different types of clothes. If you have a traditional piece of clothing that you would like to share, please send in a photo to share with the class.

We started out by reading The Mitten by Jan Brett. We talked about how the mitten is made out of thick wool and is much stronger than some other materials. In the story, many forest animals squeeze into the mitten to keep warm on a cold winter day. After reading the story, we sorted animals that were in the story and animals that were not in the story.
