The petting zoo

The petting zoo was so much fun!

May is all about BUILDINGS

For all of May we have been studying buildings - their structures, their characteristics, differences, similarities, what makes them strong/weak, etc. We've been learning about different tools and materials that we use to build buildings.

We also learned about the 3 little pigs. We talked about how the pig with the brick house has the strongest structure.

We taped straw, sticks, and bricks to our wooden blocks in order to build the 3 little pigs houses. We also made puppets out of popsicle sticks.

We graphed what kind of houses we would build

We practiced drawing stairs, windows, and doors at out easel.

We measured how many houses tall we were.

We also built and explored building houses with plastic cups

Vegetable soup!!

We had so much fun making vegetable soup. Mmmmmmmm.

April - Spring and plants

Spring is here and we are learning all about Spring. Take a look at some things we've been working on this week in the classroom!

We made 'sock caterpillars' with soil and grass seed. We will water our caterpillar and hopefully he will become a fuzzy caterpillar in the next week.

Counting ladybug dots!

Using claws to catch 'bugs' and put them in buckets.

Our block center has bugs and leaves. We are building insect habitats.

Examining different types of insects and drawing/writing about them in our journals.

We set up a flower shop. We sell flowers, seeds, gardening gloves, and soil.
